Dear Parents:
Sukkot is a time of happiness for Jews. During this week Abrams celebrated the holiday of Sukkot with two exciting field trips; one to Washington, DC and one to Lakewood, NJ.
On the way to Washington the students stopped in Wilmington, DE for prayers and breakfast in the Sukkah at the Chabad Center run by Rabbi Matthew Flickstein, an Abrams alumnus. Rabbi Flickstein is a Chabad shaliach who graciously offered to host AHA during this festive time of year. Abrams is proud to see an alumnus doing great work while building a career on the strong religious foundation provided by Abrams.
Another alumnus, Dr. Daniel Borrus, the son of Dorit and Steve Borrus, is relocating to Princeton, NJ with his wife and twin children. Danny and his wife, who is a psychologist, will continue their medical careers in their new location. Danny graduated from Abrams in 1993 and has been living in Hoboken, NJ. Again, it is a pleasure to see an alumnus who excelled at Abrams, was valedictorian of his class, and is now making a successful career as a doctor.
Bracha Feldheim, our newest Judaic Studies teacher, attended Abrams for three years, and she told me that those years were the happiest of her elementary school life. She said that the warm, family atmosphere that she felt at Abrams when she was a young child is the same one that permeates the school now, and we are proud that Abrams still instills that feeling of inclusion and belonging in all of our students.
These examples of successful Abrams students are a testimony to what Abrams is all about- our mission is to educate children and prepare them to go on to prosper in both the secular and Judaic worlds as they continue to make their way through life. Our students’ success brings us the happiness that is truly the spirit of Sukkot.
Chag Sameach-
